In 2019 I was awarded a tenancy at Porthmeor Studios in St Ives, Cornwall, UK. For seven weeks across October and November, I lived in an attic apartment in the village and painted in Porthmeor Studio no. 5.
Studio 5 is famously the former studio of British artists Ben Nicholson and later Patrick Heron, amongst many others. Barbara Hepworth lived in the village and I walked past her studio and sculpture garden daily. Tate St Ives is a short walk from the studio and has a marvellous collection that I spent a lot of time with. I walked on the windswept moors and towering seaside cliffs daily.
Here are some images from my time there.
